Mayday Space is struggling to keep our doors open! Mayday has been an integral part of movement building in NYC for a decade – serving as a home-base for community coalitions and grassroots collectives to grow, lead, and create change. Countless organizations, member-based groups, and independent projects have used Mayday's classroom, library, art room, kitchen, and great hall as a place for fellowship, movement building, and community events.

Aligned with our values and principles, we've always strived to be fair with our sliding-scale rates and to keep our doors open for folks who need space to gather, create, and make change possible. Unfortunately, given a recent rent increase, the current cost of inflation, and the pressing reality of possibly not being able to keep our doors open for future space use, we've had to adjust our tiers for future bookings. We trust our Mayday Fam will understand and hope folks will continue supporting us in our time of need as we have for so many others in theirs.

NOTE: The impacts of COVID-19 are still with us. Mayday shares a building with other partners, and that also informs how we use the space - taking all communities needs and requests under consideration. Below are key guidelines on how we address covid safety and building security:

  • When hosting public events, you must include your COVID policy in any promotional material such as flyers or social media posts. These can include: "Masks required when indoors"; "Proof of negative rapid test the same day of the event"; or "Masks strongly preferred". This will help our community members make an informed decision about attending.
  • Washing hands when entering space, before and after eating, if you touch your face/mouth, and after restroom use.
  • Physical distancing and no touching other individuals without prior consent. 
  • Please do not come to the space if you are not feeling well or have been in direct contact with someone exhibiting symptoms within 10 days.
  • Do not congregate in the hallways, main entrance, or staircases.
  • Access to the rooftop is prohibited.
  • The front red door must be CLOSED at all times unless someone is downstairs and monitoring who is entering.

Before You Book

1.

We try to respond to booking requests within 48 hours. We may sometimes request additional information before confirming.

2.

Please include the time needed for setup, breakdown, and clean-up in your booking request. We make our staffing schedules based on the times you submit.
