Mayday is more than a passive space where people can attend events. We aim to be a community resource and a place where we can all actively contribute to movements for justice.
We are currently transforming one of the 2nd floor classrooms into a RADICAL LIBRARY to accommodate our growing book collection and to encourage more reading, reflection, and debate. We believe that free access to knowledge is essential to supporting an informed community with ideas to change our neighborhoods, city and world. Our library is rooted in global social justice values embedded with the working class history and character of Bushwick, Brooklyn.
Our library is your library.
If you are able, please consider donating your books to our project. We are interested in titles ranging from race and gender studies, political economy, radical education, books in Spanish, graphic novels, comics and everything in between. We ask that the books are new or in good condition. Please drop off your donations to the Mayday Community Space located at 176 St. Nicholas Ave in Bushwick Brooklyn.
If you have any questions, would like to support the project, or want to ensure we’ll be present to receive your donations, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And stay tuned for our official launch party coming up later this summer!
